I’m not even going to begin re hashing what RTL-SDR is, as there are MANY amazing sites across the internet, and some amazing software out there. Here’s a Basic description from RTL-SDR.com “RTL-SDR is a very cheap ~$25 USB dongle that can be used as a computer-based radio scanner for receiving live radio signals in your area (no internet required). Depending on the particular model it could receive frequencies from 500 kHz up to 1.75 GHz. Most software for the RTL-SDR is also community developed and provided free of charge.”
I also stream my radio feed via the internet using the spyserver software. If you use SDR Sharp software you can tune in at sdr://22.214.171.124:5555
My Virtual Radar system Running on RTL-SDR
Below is a live feed from my ADS-B Receiver from my home, using a homemade co-linear coax antenna. You can view it on your own browser by clicking here VirtualRadar
If it is not feeding, I might be doing some work on the system, otherwise, it should run 24/7.
